Speedway City saw host to the 2010 Australian Super Sedan Title on the weekend. With Australias best fighting for the title around the 430 metre race track, just getting to the A Main was going to be a task. With inclement weather all weekend, it was a credit to the track staff and promoters to get the event run.
Mt Gambiers Dave Gartner was flying the flag for Maxwill Racing Engines, and did it proud, being a standout all weekend, everntually finishing 2nd in the rain delayed A Main. Gartner, was consistently fast from the outset, being second quickest in Wednesday nights practice by 2 hundreds of a second. Setting blistering pace in the heat races, with convincing wins, hunting around track record times, Dave qualified on pole for the A Main alongside eventual winned Jamie McHugh.
From the start Gartner took the lead, and for the first 15 laps never looked challenged, until a yellow was brought out for a collision in the lower order. The restart saw Gartner rocket back to a convincing lead all the way through to the features second stoppage on lap 26. From there it was evident that it was going to be a two car battle to the chequered flag, with McHugh stealing the lead with just 5 laps to go, making a pass on Gartner as he exited turn 2 low on the track. Eventually coming home in second was still a very respectable finish for Gartner, being one of the toughest ever Australian Title fields.
