With an entry list stacked with some of the best Sprintcar Drivers in Australia, the WA Southern Thunder Series visited Collie Speedway for round 3.
It was local boy, Maxwill Racing Engines pilot Ben Ellement who set quick time ahead of fellow Maxwill Racing Engines pilots Brooke Tatnell and Ken Sartori. Ellement set a time of 13.70 seconds around the Collie Speedway, putting him in the best vantage point for the rest of the night.
Jamie Maiolo, driving his LJM Produce, Maxwill Racing Engines, J&J took a heat win ahead of Ken Sartori in his Cowara Contracting, Maxwill Racing Engines Sprintcar. Brooke Tatnell had an excellent battle to win his first heat in the Toyota Genuine Parts, Cool, before Kris Coyle took control to win his heat race in the Remote Areas Contraction, Maxwill Racing Engines, Murphy.
The 30 lap A Main saw Brooke Tatnell start from first position, with Ken Sartori and Ben Ellement in 3rd and 4th respectively. The crowd saw Brooke Tatnell take control as he battled with Farr through lapped traffic. The battle in lapped traffic saw Farr tag Tatnell, bringing on a red. Whilst both teams battled to get the cars ready for the restart, Tatnell took off where he left off, regained the lead and control of the race.
Brooke Tatnell took the feature win, round 3 of the Southern Thunder Series, for the Krikke Motorsports team, whilst Ken Sartori finished 3rd, extending his lead of the series, giving both drivers a great leadup to the King of Wings and Krikke Boys races in the next few weeks.
